Today was one of the best days of being a dad ever! After arriving home and gallantly offering to feed Wes (yes, gallantly) I was greeted with the all-too-common scenario of "baby falling asleep with a bottle in its mouth." I've tried various methods of countering this, with the usual result being a limp, wet-noodle-like baby in my hands that wouldn't wake up for anything less than a front row seat to an Aerosmith concert (unless, of course, it's 3 am and I'm trying to sleep). This time, I tried the tried-and-true method of throwing the 4-week old baby in the air and catching him.
Things were looking good as he opened his eyes to see what the heck was going on in the room that would warrant being thrown 2 feet in the air while trying to sleep. So, I politely told him that he was too sleepy and needed to finish eating. We tried a few more tosses, and it looked like he was enjoying things so I kept going for a few more seconds.
Wes liked things so much, he decided to smile for the first time!

Mom and I, being the cool customers that we are, promptly forgot all about the feeding and spent the next several minutes trying to duplicate the grin. We even took some pictures. It was the best part of the day by far!

Post Script: I happened to be watching "The O'Reilly Factor" at the time. Coincidence??
