Ode to the Lexus

Today Brian sold his Lexus. We actually thought it would be a celebratory occasion, but it was actually kind of sad - even for me. It was the first car that Brian ever bought and he loved that car. I got a little sentimental because it was one of our first cars as a married couple.

Even though you list a car and want it to sell, it's pretty sudden when it does! (Especially when you've been getting really low-ball offers on it for a week!) That's how it was today, one minute it was here and now it's gone.

I tried to help Brian ease the pain by making chocolate chip cookies and helping him think about what kind of car he would get next (even if it won't be for a few years).

We're now a one car family.

Goodbye to the Lexus.

The Texas Accent

So far I've really enjoyed Texas so far. The people are nice, the weather is decent, and you can't beat the cost of living. The accent has thrown me for a loop a few times, though. Here's my favorite experience so far, as emailed to my younger, gopher-loving cousin:

So I'm walking aimlessly around the "Tom Thumb" grocery store (there's a Texas joke by itself) looking for what increasingly appear to be the "invisible" variety of light bulb. Up and down the aisles I roam with no light bulbs to be found anywhere. Finally my manhood accepts defeat and I wait at the customer service counter to ask for directions.

"Excuse me, would you mind telling me where I can find the light bulbs?"
The customer service lady looks up and casually answers, "all ten."
I pause, thinking there is more to the answer.
"All ten," she repeats."Um..." I say confused, "All ten what?"
"They're on all ten."

The part of my brain that got me through 2 years in Russia and a year in Mexico finally kicks in as I walked to the light bulbs.

They were on Aisle 10.

25 Weeks

This week we hit 25 weeks and things are still going well! I don't feel like I grew that much since 21 weeks. I definitely feel like I'm bigger, I just don't think I look a lot bigger in the pictures. Here's 17 weeks if you're wanting to keep track.

This week was one of the weeks that I was feeling really glad that Wes is going to have a playmate before too long! It will be hard to get through the time when Sydney can't actually "play" yet and Wes doesn't have all of my attention all the time, but I know he'll love have his own buddy. Then maybe Brian and I can hang out by ourselves again!

Brian and I used to always get Ice Storms at Nordstrom when I was working there. They're yummy! We decided to introduce Wes to his first.

I think he liked it!
