Days 4 Through 6 With Grandpa and Grandma Hanks!

Don't be jealous as you read this post...you can come visit us and we'll take you fun places too!

Monday, Memorial Day, started out with the traditional sourdough pancakes...recipe courtesy of the Grandma Lyman Cookbook. This tradition is held on a much bigger scale in Oak City, Utah where my extended family puts on the Edward Partridge Memorial Day Breakfast. Sydney sure enjoyed her first (syrup-less) sourdough pancakes!

It was a beautiful day and Wes loved playing catch outside with Grandma, Grandpa and Dad!

Good throw Wes!

Then Wes and Sydney had their first Chuck E. Cheese experience. They were both kind of in awe the whole time!

Sydney helping Dad play air hockey.

Grandpa and Wes flying the airplanes!

Sydney sure likes taking bites!

On Tuesday, we went to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio (try not to be jealous). For those not in the know, Cedar Point has 17 roller coasters including four that are taller than 200 feet. Don't worry, we made sure to hit the tallest and the fastest ones...and we made Grandpa Hanks do them with us! :)

Our kids were troopers! Sydney took a short nap in the stroller.

It rained on us in the morning, but it turned out to be a great day - not too hot - without much waiting time in the lines! That's the best way to enjoy an amusement park.

Here we are on the Wicked Twister (I'm on the end, 2nd from the back). Sorry it's a little blurry! :)

There were plenty of kid rides too and no waiting. Wes had a great time driving all the cars!

We put Sydney in jail for a minute, but she didn't seem to mind.

But then she got back at us anyway!

Cute father and daughter!

Wes was very excited to ride the real, live train. Can you tell? Okay, maybe he was a little overwhelmed with the life-size locomotive.

Sydney took nap #2 with Grandma. Pretty impressive!

We spent Wednesday morning recovering from our long day and then said "bye-bye" to Grandma and Grandpa Hanks. Thanks for the super fun week!

Days 1 through 3 With Grandma and Grandpa Hanks!

Grandma and Grandpa Hanks arrived late Thursday night (early Friday morning) and we got started first thing Friday with fun activities!

On Friday, we drove a little over an hour to one of the top 10 sandwich places in the nation: Tony's on I-75. Their BLT boasts 1 pound of bacon so we got one to split 4 ways!

We also ordered the banana split. We were able to dig and find the bananas under the half gallon of ice cream on top!

Wes was very excited about the ice cream and ended up making quite a mess of himself Grandpa.

Sydney enjoyed some ice cream too! Do you think they're related, making the same face as they eat?

We also hit up the Birch Run Outlet Mall after lunch which is right across the street from the sandwich place. Brian got a bunch of new clothes for his upcoming internship!

Saturday morning started with a (long overdue) trip to the Detroit Temple for Brian and Natalie. It was a nice little date!

We decided to do a little campfire and cook some hot dogs in the "backyard" (the park that's behind our house).

Grandma helped Wes cook his hot dog.

Then they shared some S'Mores!

Sydney got in on the S'Mores action too...

...and thoroughly enjoyed it!

And made a little mess of herself! :)

After church on Sunday, we went to the Matthaei Botanical Gardens. Wes wasn't sure about the turtle that Grandpa found roaming around.

Hmmm...not sure what Wes is thinking about here with Grandpa.

Sydney's such a cutie in her fun spring dress!

More to fun come!
