On Saturday, Brian, Wes, and I flew from DFW to Nassau, Bahamas to meet up with the Swensen clan. Luckily, our flight was only about 3 hours. Wes did pretty well, but he sure is an active kid!
My parents were the first to arrive, then the Dildines, then us, then the Wards.
The first night we went with Grandma and Grandpa to Jamba Juice. It was pretty humid, but Brian and I appreciated the lower temperatures compared to Dallas!
On Tuesday, Brian went to the Bahamian Junkanoo Market with everyone and I stayed home with my mom to watch the three littlest kids (Wes, Lydia, and Mitchell).
Grandma watching Lydia and Wes have some PB&J sandwiches for lunch.
Mitchell, Lydia, and Wes checking out the outside from the deck. It was so fun to watch Wes play with his cousins!
There are a lot of pictures from this day! Thanks to Mom and Dad for watching Wes while Brian and I had a snorkeling date! :)
Mom and Wes in the pool.
There was live music by the pool and Wes had a great time dancing to it. He LOVES dancing to music.
Me in my snorkeling gear getting ready to hit the water.
Some fish.
Brian giving the thumbs up.
More fish.
Me doing my snorkeling thing.
The colorful fish.
Brian going down under the water. I was too afraid of swallowing salt water!
We got to see a shipwreck under the water. That was a cool thing!
More shipwreck pics.
Another angle.
This big fish tried to "attack" Brian (okay, it just started trying to follow him). We were both kind of worried about it but it turned out okay!
By some miracle Grandpa got Wes to fall asleep outside while we were gone. It's really hard to do with Wes because he likes to look around and see what's going on all the time and doesn't ever want to shut his eyes. However, Grandpa was able to do it! My mom tried to take a picture as proof that he slept out there, but she accidentally took a video.
Aunt Jennie was doing horsey with Wes and Lydia. Cute kids! :)
Lydia gave Wes a kiss after horsey and then that's pretty much all she wanted to do every time she saw him after that. It was pretty cute!
I love Lydia's hand on Wes shoulder. These two are about 2 months apart, by the way.
Wes and Mom on a big ice cream sundae bench. Mmmm...ice cream! :)
Brian returning one of Lydia's bows. Apparently he just wanted to see how it'd look on him. Pretty cute, eh?
Playing pool by the pool.
Family picture.
Brian and I on the bus to go to dinner on our group date night with my sisters and their spouses. Thanks again to Grandma and Grandpa for watching all the kids!
Eliot, Angie, Mike, Jennie, me and Brian at Mesa Grill.
Outside Mesa Grill. This is actually Bobby Flay's restaurant if you've ever watched him on the food network. The appetizer and dessert were our favorite part. The dinner was a tad spicey for our tastes.
There are quite a few pictures from this day too. We were trying to fit it all in on our last full day!
When my sisters were in Dallas for the weekend, we got the kids matching outfits. Here was our first attempt at taking pictures. Only three crying kids! Wes kind of started freaking out when he got sand on his hands for some reason.
Dad and Wes checking out the sand.
Our little Hanks family on the beach.
We moved locations to try another round of cousins pictures. Ryan is standing on the left, Nathan is holding Lydia, Danny is holding Wes, then there's Madison and Mitchell standing on the right.
The traditional "cousins in a line" picture. It's always an event! Wes had that cheezy half-smile the whole time. L to R: Nathan, Danny, Madison, Ryan, Mitchell, Lydia, and Wes.
Taking a ride down the lazy river.
Wes and Mom with the Atlantis Hotel in the background. We actually stayed in the villa part, not the tall hotel part in the background.
Dad and Wes watching people on the slide and looking at the sharks. Yep, Wes is standing on the rail and there are sharks in the water below.
Mike, Jennie, Danny, Nathan, Ryan, Wes, and Mom, watching the people and sharks.
Here's a good picture Brian took of one the nurse sharks.
Another picture of a shark.
Definitely looks like sharks in the water!
We were actually there to watch them feed the sharks. Here's a video of some of them being fed. I'm glad that's not my job!
This is Brian going down the slide they call "Leap of Faith".
Wes and Dad playing in the water.
Dad and a slightly unsure Wes going down the kiddie slide.
