Marshmallow Sculptures

As a home activity on June 9th, the kids did marshmallow sculptures (marshmallows and toothpicks). Here's how they turned out.

When I asked Wes what he made, he said, "The things Indians climb." I asked him if he meant a ladder and then I realized he meant a totem pole. We see those more often now that we live in the Pacific Northwest. He also made an Aero train (from Geotrax).

Wes' First Primary Talk

I think one of the "perks" of being LDS is that kids learn how to speak (and sing) in front of other people from a very early age. Wes gave his first Primary talk on Sunday, June 5th. Brian and I helped him write it the week before and then we practiced it a lot so he'd feel really comfortable giving his talk in front of the whole Primary.

Brian had Wes practice with his "stand" and "microphone". We even had him practice via video chat with his Hanks Grandparents.

We took this video before church, but obviously Sydney was quite a distraction and it's hard to hear him. I had made a paper with pictures outlining his talk so he'd have something to refer to. The Primary President was very impressed with his talk and Brian and I were very proud of him. He was very proud of himself as well, which is really important.

Sunny Saturday

The great thing about sun in Seattle is that it's never taken for granted. On Saturday, June 4th, we had great weather, so we took the kids out to play kickball and play at the park.

Wes took his turn kicking the ball. I thought it was most important for them to learn "kick then run" regardless of which direction or how far they run.
