Impromtu Pumpkin Patch Visit

On Thursday, October 13th, it was a beautiful day so Tenley initiated an impromptu preschool field trip to the pumpkin patch.

Lily, Sydney, Troy, Claire (Snow White), Wes, Avery (Tinkerbell), and Carson. Caius is also in the preschool class, but wasn't able to come that day.

Me with my kiddos.

On the hunt for the perfect pumpkin!

Sydney and Troy were having fun exploring.

The kids played on this hay wagon for at least 20 minutes.

It's a natural modeling shot. :)

For some reason, I think kids look so grown up with their hands in their pockets. :)

Wes, Sydney, and Troy getting their picture with the tractor.

Wes and Sydney made a go of the Kids' Maze. We ended up with a medium-sized pumpkin, apple cider for Brian, strawberry milk straws, and fun memories! :)Link

Running Since Boston

It's been two years since I finished my first marathon and six months since I ran Boston.

Today I went "running" for only the 15th time in the past six months. I use the term "running" lightly because today I actually ran 5 minutes (10:00 min/mi), walked 5, ran 5, walked 5. Nothing stellar, but it was a beautiful fall morning here in Seattle!

Basically, leading up to Boston and directly after, I was very burnt out. I really needed a break from running. So, I've taken a break from running and just been going when I feel like it. I've taken it slow and honestly, it's hard for me to believe I have ever been able to run 8:20 min/mi for 26.2 miles.

While I feel like I went on a great 18-month running kick, I'm really glad to be having a break. I figure at some point later in my life, the bug will hit me again and I'll get back in the habit again. For now though, I'm content with my average of twice a month runs and an average pace of 10:00+ min/mi.
