Wesley's 6th Birthday Party

We had a birthday party for Wes on April 13th so his cousin Mitchell could be there since we had a lot of family in town for Ruth's blessing on the 14th. Wes chose the theme "Avengers" for his birthday party.

On the morning of his birthday party, Wes got to open his present from Ruth: an Avengers t-shirt and truck.

Here's a picture of the cake I made him. I used silver "spray paint" for the color (edible, of course) and edible paper for the letters. We had the figurines already.

My 9-year-old niece, Madison, helped Brian and I with the party. The kids started out with coloring pages.

Then they got to eat Thor's throw hammers made out of cheese and pretzels.

Then they got to pretend like they were Hawkeye and shoot a bow and arrow at Loki.

Before Wes could do his Hulk building smash, he chose to do push-ups. :)

A great action shot of Wes' friend, Easton, doing the Hulk building smash.

After each character event, the boys got to hit the punch box for a prize. This was a big hit!

We also had an Iron-Man balloon race (since he flies).

And finally, a Captain America disc (Frisbee) toss.

Wes with his cake before we lit the candles.

Singing the happy birthday song to Wes!

Blowing out all six candles!

Present opening time! Two of Wes' friends, Parker and Easton, had to leave early for baseball or soccer games. L to R: cousin Ryan, cousin Mitchell, Wes, and classmate Dylan.

Mouthful of chocolate cake!

Me, with my eldest child!

Random Pictures (Mostly of Ruth)

It's hard to catch up on picture posting when I take so many pictures of my baby girl every day! Here are a bunch of random ones of the kids.

I love that little hand holding my fingers.

Little hands making sure I don't take her bottle away!

Wes and Brian were out of the house for a bit so I let Sydney do my hair. Beautiful! :)

A picture of Ruth I sent to Brian while he was out of town.

I took the kids to Red Robin for a school fundraiser. Brian was out of town, so I took all three by myself. It's nice that my (older) kids are old enough to handle eating at a restaurant.

Wes stuck his straw through the gap in his teeth since Grandma Hanks told him it was the perfect hole for a straw.

Sydney wanted to be in the picture I took of Ruth sleeping.

Bed head!

Ruth really started looking more like a filled out baby at the end of March.

Ruth has long eyelashes!

I took the kids to Babies R Us and they tried on shoes and hats.

Wes also wanted to show the magazine in the picture for some reason.

A picture of the kids in front of the water fountain at City Creek in Salt Lake. I forgot to include this pic with the Spring Break post.

Another Spring Break pic of Uncle Eliot reading to the kidlets before bed.

Another from Utah: Ruth resting with Grandma Hanks.

Yet another from Spring Break: Sydney, Wes, and Audrey making "Resurrection Rolls" under Aunt Janna's direction.

We celebrated my sister, Jennie's, birthday on April 1st!

Trying to capture those sweet smiles!

Sleepy sister...

The kids made a little tent/house for Ruth in the swing.

Sweet baby girl.

Big smiles!

We had my niece and nephew over one night for a sleepover and Lydia and Sydney ended up right next to each other with the whole one side of the bed unoccupied. They're quickly becoming the best of friends.

Spikey haired Ruth. It's crazy how long her hair is already!

Sydney and me cuddling to watch some General Conference.

This little boy is Brian's cousin's son. He's one of the happiest babies I've ever met and he really liked Ruth!

Sisters, sisters...!

Hard to imagine Sydney was ever as little as Ruth and that Ruth will ever be as big as Sydney!

Straight-Haired Sydney

One day, when we had extra time, I straightened Sydney's hair. She looks like a different girl!

A funny face she makes when I try to get her to smile.

Her hair is so long!

It's so pretty!

A couple hours of playing and the curl can't help but start to come back. It's still beautiful though!
