Craig and I (along with Kevin, Dad, cousin Nick and potentially Janna and others) are training to do a "Century Ride" this summer - 100 miles by bike. Craig and my philosophy about training is simple: Seattle is awesome, and it's big - let's explore by bike. Our goal was to do a loop around the south side of Bainbridge island.
We arrived at the downtown Seattle ferry and foolishly thought we would find a parking spot in short order. That little mistake made us miss our target ferry and wait for the next.

Adios ferry! The day was a clear one. Bainbridge island is visible from Seattle (dark trees in the picture). The Olympic mountains visible here are on the peninsula beyond the island.
The plus side to this oversight, was a little side trip up to Pike Place Market where they have a French Bakery "Le Panier" that sells super-good bike fuel: flour, sugar and butter, covered with a coating of sugar.

We got on the ferry. It's much cheaper to ride a bike on then to drive on with your car.

Bainbridge is a pretty quiet place, but very pretty.

Here was our planned route. We didn't know how hilly the route would be and agreed to use shortcuts if time was getting short.

Downtown Seattle is visible from the island. If you can see past the whiteness of Hanks skin that hasn't seen sun in months.

It feels like being spoiled to ride around places so pretty.

On the ferry back to the cars. A good day!
