Celebrate Women's Fitness 5k

On September 21, 2013 I ran my first 5k in a really long time. I think it might have been my first race since Boston, actually. It was the Celebrate Women's Fitness 5k in Eagle. It was put on by my friend, Tenley, whom we know from Seattle, and her family that lives in Eagle. One of my favorite pars was one of the most fun pre-race warm-ups ever: Zumba!

I've been struggling getting back into running around here, but the moment I started that race, it felt like "home". I loved it! Racing is "so me". I surprised myself by running the whole time since I previously hadn't run more than two miles and usually those runs weren't non-stop. I came in 8th overall (it was a small, women's only race) and 3rd in my age division. I was super excited to get a prize! My friend, Stacy (from golfing), came in just ahead of me. My time was 28:10. Definitely not a best-ever, but I was happy with it!

My kids were there to cheer me on. You can see how red my face was!

It was so fun to see the kids' friend, Troy, from when we lived in Seattle.

Golfing Date Night

On September 20, 2013, we went on a double date golfing with our friends, Brandon and Stacy Miner. Neither Stacy nor I had much golfing experience, but she definitely progressed a lot more by the end of the 4th hole (all we did) than I did!

Stacy following her shot.

Brandon setting up his shot.

Here I go...trying to actually hit the ball.

And here goes Brian!

Look how cute we are! :)

Brian showing off his most amazing shot of the night.

It was a beautiful night to be golfing!

We used the panorama feature to get a picture of the four of us without a 5th person to take the picture.

Talk Like a Pirate Day 2013

September 19, 2013 was National Talk Like a Pirate Day. You can get free doughnuts from Krispy Kreme if you go dressed like a pirate. We went as early as we could right after all the kids' activities because we figured it would just get busier as the night went on. So, we had doughnuts for dinner that night!

Sydney had a whole plan for taking pictures outside before we left.

A family of pirates. Ruth didn't really seem to know what to make of it all!

Waiting for our doughnuts!

We got three boxes of doughnuts. Wow! We gave some away...

Ruth was pretty tuckered out after our fun evening! The kids thought it was pretty funny that she was falling asleep while drinking her bottle.
