This weekend we went out to University of Michigan in Ann Arbor to attend Go Blue Rendezvous (GBR), which is the admitted students weekend for the MBAs.
When we got to the business school, it took Brian all of 15 minutes to meet a guy from Centerville, UT, who was LDS (of course) and there with his wife and their 6-month-old son. We also met another LDS couple with a 6-week-old and found out that a guy from Brian's mission was also there (his wife is pregnant). Young couples with kids makes it easy to spot LDS families! :)
While Brian did MBA things like sitting in on classes and doing a high tech scavenger hunt, I met up with the Ross Partners, a club dedicated to the significant others of the MBA students. This gave me a good opportunity to meet other wives, fiances, and girlfriends (there were a couple of men there, too) and realize that the LDS people aren't the only ones with kids!
It was a crazy and exhausting weekend for both of us - for different reasons - but we were really glad we went. We are both really looking forward to the fall. Everyone was so nice and helpful and the business school really made us feel welcome and wanted. A great feeling!
We actually found a place to live, too! (Yes, we currently have deposits down on 3 rental homes in 3 different states!) Apparently a ton of the MBAs and other grad student families live in these apartments and townhomes called Woodbury Gardens. We heard really good things about them and the're within walking distance to The Big House (football stadium). So, we toured them and found out there were only two 2-bedroom townhomes left (which is what we wanted), so we signed up! (We got a free i-pod shuffle out of the deal, too, so if anyone wants to buy one...) In fact, the other LDS couple with the 6-month-old signed up there, too.

These have 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths upstairs. Then we have a living room, dining room, kitchen and half bath on the main floor. Then we even have a basement downstairs - a perfect office/study/get away from crying kids area!
We lucked out with getting a townhome on the end which means only sharing one side of walls with neighbors and having extra windows on the other side. As you can see, we have some grass to the side of us (that will be covered with snow most of the time we're there) and what's that right behind us? Tennis courts! Brian was pretty excited about that!
This was actually the day before...I was cleaning the fridge and Wes climbed right in!
