Spirit of Boise Classic - Hot Air Balloons

On Saturday, September 1st, we woke up bright and early (about 5:45am for me) and headed downtown to see the annual hot air balloon festival. We went with my sister's family - who go annually - so they knew the trick that watching the balloons is even better with a doughnut or muffin in hand. :)
The kids patiently waited for "go time" when the balloons would start inflating.

Wes was really excited about all of the balloons as they blew up.
Different balloons in various states of flight.
A family picture...Wes is giving a thumbs up.
The sun coming up over the foothills (and, of course, a Boise State balloon).

Little Ruby enjoyed the show as well!

Sydney and me with on of our favorite balloons.

Wes and me checking out the balloons.

Mickey Mouse ended up being the crowd favorite for sure. I think this is a cool picture with all of the hot air balloons in the sky.

In the afternoon, the kids played outside in the kiddie pool. They were chillin' on the trampoline having a break and eating some ice cream bars. Rough life. :)

Wesley's First Day of Kindergarten

On Tuesday, August 28th, Wes began his first day of Kindergarten at Chief Joseph Elementary. The day before, we had a "meet the teacher" hour, so that was helpful in getting Wes acclimated to his class. He was definitely ready and excited, but just a bit nervous since he didn't really know anyone.

We can walk to school which I much prefer to driving 15 minutes to take him to school. (We'll see if I still feel similarly in the winter.) Plus, it's good exercise for me and Sydney to go back and forth each day, twice a day.

First day of school picture for 2012! (He looks quite a bit older than his very first day of preschool picture from 2009.)

His new, cool Mario backpack. Of course, he picked out his Spider-man shirt as well.

Sydney didn't want to take a picture, but Wes grabbed her anyway. By the way, I don't think I ever wore shorts on my first day of school growing up. A high of 95 - like it was on Wes' first day - was unheard of for us.

Waiting in line to go into class!

The kids got to work as the parents dropped off their Kindergarteners. I did really well keeping my emotions together until Sydney and I were walking home and the principal came on the PA system to say hello to the students. I'm not sure why that made me emotional, but it did! However, I've been fine ever since. :)
