Busy Busy

What we've been doing this week:

Watching Mom run races.

Playing with Thomas on the real train tracks.

More trains. Trains trains trains...this kid loves trains.

Showing Thomas the lake Dad should throw his Boise State hat into.

Reading stories about little engines that think they can.

Also getting sick, blowing noses and crying a lot. Pictures omitted. You can thank me in the comments section.

What's For Dinner?

Luckily today was my day to cook for our dinner group. I say "luckily" because I really enjoy making meals for random holidays and special occasions. Since today was April Fool's Day I had to do something fun so we had mini hamburgers, french fries, and cupcakes! I think this is a fun meal to start as an April Fool's Day tradition.

Here is the recipe I used for the hamburgers. I made a few variations by adding some mayo, ketchup and mustard (frosting) that can be seen better in the first picture. The fries are baked apples with cinnamon, sugar, and brown sugar.

Our cupcakes were made using the Body for Life Turkey Meatloaf recipe and the frosting is made from mashed potatoes. I got the idea from a friend's blog called The Citruslist. They got the idea from FamilyFun.com. Check 'em both out.

Wes was really excited to try his cupcake. Here he is, ready to dig in!

Not such a fan of his cupcake. And I'm not a fan of mean April Fool's jokes so this was more my style. Happy April Fool's Day!

And a special birthday shoutout to my sister Jennie and my Aunt Lynnette!

18 Months

If I had to do it all over again, I would for sure have my two kids exactly when I had them. When I was reading about having 2 kids under 2 while I was pregnant, I read that the first 6 months were the worst (h*ll was used in some circles), but really, for me, it hasn't been nearly that bad. Not even close. I've actually enjoyed it! Granted, I have two really easy-going children so maybe that has something to do with it. (I'm sure it helps that Sydney sleeps so well too!) Whatever it is, I'm glad it worked out the way it did. The kids are already entertaining each other. I took this video after dinner yesterday. You gotta love moments like this! I love seeing them get older together and enjoying each other.

If you're thinking about having your kids 18 months apart, I say, do it! :)

Fire Station

I hadn't realized it'd been so long since I posted! Brian was out of town for a week and I did my own version of "While You Were Out" to our bedroom (pictures to come) and then I've been sick, so it's been a little crazy the last little bit!

On Thursday we went to Morning Out (our ward playgroup) at the fire station. I thought Wes would think it was really cool, but he was totally stressed and scared of the truck the whole time.

The whole crew with the fire truck.

The kids (Wes in the green hat) with fire-woman Jill (she's in our ward and was just trying on the outfit).

Wes having a meltdown because I put him on the fire truck. Hayden is Wes' new BFF. They ask for each other throughout the day now.

Wes was okay when he sat with me on the truck.
