We've been spending this week in Boise with my sister Jennie and her family. The kids have had a great time playing with their cousins.
Sydney and Wes have been staying up too late since it stays light so late these days...plus, they keep waking each other up all the time! Sydney was tuckered out, but Danny was kind enough to help her relax.
Wes has loved playing in the sand pit in the backyard and digging with the tractors.
Sydney tested out her swimsuit for the first time and I thought she looked so stinkin' cute.
She thoroughly enjoyed her time in the pool!
Wes refused to get his swimsuit on and claimed he didn't want to go in the pool but when I went to get Sydney changed, I found Wes in the pool fully clothed. He actually got in the bath fully clothed the next day too. :/
Lydia, Ryan, and Wes enjoying some Oreos!
Sydney had some Oreo too! It reminded me of Wes here, but he wasn't nearly as messy (or smiley).
Last Tuesday, the kids and I began our 4-week summer vacation! We flew to Salt Lake and had a layover in Denver and both kids did pretty great. Sydney fell asleep on the first leg and Wes fell asleep on the second leg. Both kids are troopers!
We spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Kaysville with Grandma and Grandpa Hanks. Wes helped Grandma Hanks plant some flowers in the window well.
He gave the flowers a big drink! (He also tried to give Mom a drink at one point too.)
On Wednesday, we met with Great Grandma (Mary) Smith for lunch. I took Wes' blanket to show her how much he loves it.
Here's an example: Wes has made all these loops on his blanket and he always has to have his fingers in them. I have no idea why he started doing this, but it used to be one finger in one loop and now he connects as many as he can.
Wes played a fun game with Grandma Hanks! She played the piano while Wes jumped, crashed, fell, etc. He loved it!
Sydney and Uncle Craig. She had just woken up from a 3-hour nap! The traveling and time change really wore her out!
We drove to Boise on Thursday and Wes got to go in the pool at the hotel.
At the Smith family reunion there was a bounce house. We loved playing with all the little kids and being outside. (Notice the air that little girl is getting!)
James Wesley Smith with Brian and Sydney. Great Grandma (Ruth) Smith is in the background.
Great Grandma Smith, Natalie, and Sydney having some grass time.
Wes loved all the attention from his aunts and uncles. He and Aunt Sara were hanging out watching the guys play horseshoes.
Grandpa Hanks, Grandma Hanks, Natalie, Wes, Sydney, and Great Grandpa Smith. Brian flew out to Chicago on Sunday for the next 6 weeks of his internship. After church the kids and I were dropped off in Eagle to spend a week with my sister Jennie!
Monday: 3 miles Wednesday: 4 miles Thursday: 3 miles Saturday: 6 miles Total for the week: 16 miles (387.2 to go!)
This week of running was quite exciting! Monday's run was in Ann Arbor, Wednesday and Thursday were in Kaysville, and Saturday was in Boise. It was fun to keep a little variety to my runs. (Thank goodness for willing babysitters!)
My Saturday 6-miler was with Brian since he was in Boise for the 4th of July weekend. It was a great motivation for both of us to go and keep going. Plus, it was nice to have someone to talk to! I felt pretty good finishing 6 miles since it's only the 2nd time I've ever run that far. Woo-hoo! The runs will just keep getting longer and longer and soon 6 miles will be nothing. Can't wait!
