Cowtown Countdown - 15 Weeks to Go

I'm committed! Or, maybe some people will think I should be committed. Whatever your perspective, this week I started training for my 2nd marathon! Actually, Jonelle and I are both training for the Ft. Worth Cowtown Marathon on Saturday, February 27th, 2010.

Our goal? Qualify for Boston!

For those who don't know, "Boston" is the only marathon you actually have to qualify to run. You qualify to run Boston by getting a specific time (based on your age group) in another qualifying marathon. For our age group (18-34), we have to finish the Cowtown Marathon in 3:40:59. Yes, this a full hour faster than I ran the Chicago Marathon. We have an exciting 15 weeks ahead of us!

This time my training schedule is more about getting faster by adding tempo and speed workouts, rather than upping distances like I did with my first marathon training program. It was a pretty intense week (Tuesday's tempo run was the hardest), but it felt so good to be running consistently again and having a goal to shoot for!

Weekly Goals

Monday: 6 miles at 8:53 /mi

Tuesday: 3 miles at 7:37 /mi (with 1 mile warm and cool)

Thursday: 5 miles at 8:53 /mi

Saturday: 10 miles at 8:53 /mi

Outcome

Monday: 6 miles at 8:43 /mi

Tuesday: 3 miles at 7:28 /mi (with 1 mile warm and cool)

Thursday: 5 miles at 8:14 /mi

Saturday: 10 miles at 8:40 /mi

Impromtu Photo Shoot

We've had some beautiful - and warm (high 50s) - weather this week so I decided to take the kids out to the playground and take some pictures.

I asked Wes to give me a hug and he willingly did and then said, "It's a car hug, Mom!" (You can sort of see him holding his yellow car near Sydney's shoulder.)

Model much? This totally reminds me of a model shot for some reason.

Our sweet Sydney.

Swing time!

Loving it.
