This year Memorial Day seemed to sneak up on me. I can hardly believe it's June already! On Monday morning, we decided to go on a water taxi to Alki Beach. However, we had forgotten we got a screw in our tire on Sunday. So, on Monday, we first had to fix our tire so we just missed the water taxi.
Instead, we ended up going to Matthews Beach Park. I had run past it via the Burke-Gilman Trail while I was training for Boston. I think it will be a great place to play as the weather continues to warm up.
Dad and Sydney were checking out the ducks along the Lake Washington waterfront.

The kids were scared (of bugs?) of standing in this tree. I thought it was cool!

It's a good thing Brian's so strong and can push both kids on the swings!

In the afternoon, we went over to our friends, The Pickett's, for a barbeque. The kids had a fun time playing croquet.

Wes, Troy and Sydney. Kids love kid-sized tables!

Tenley organized some Minute to Win It games for the group. Here's Amber doing "Baby Blocking".

I did "Bite Me". I had to bite the bags and get them on the table without letting my hands or knees touch the ground.

I didn't win, but I got some good stretching in! I think it would have worked better if I had been wearing stretch pants.

Brian did "Noodling Around". He had to get five dry penne noodles onto a dry spaghetti noodle.

As a note: if you ever play this game, don't put the penne noodles on a slippery and slightly-slanted folding chair.

Sydney sneaked up to the counter in the kitchen and snagged the whole bag of Doritos. At least she was nice enough to share with Wes!

The two of them then got cozy to eat their stolen bag of Doritos. :)
