Panthers Game

On August 21st, Brian and I had our first date night here in Charlotte. We went to the Carolina Panthers preseason game against the NY Jets. This seemed like a good idea for multiple reasons: 1) Brian got a pre-sale code since he works at BofA and the Panthers play at BofA stadium; 2) it was a preseason game so it wasn't on a Sunday; 3) neither of us had been to a professional football game before; 3) the stadium is less than a mile from our house (walking distance!). So off we went!

I think these Panther statues are so scary looking. That's probably the point, but I really dislike them. I do, however, like Brian's interpretation of the panther.

I have to say that I don't feel a great need to see another pro football game again. There really wasn't a vast difference between college and pro games as far as the experience for the spectator goes. I think the difference is much more apparent in baseball and basketball.

Brian and Natalie on a date!

Proof we were actually in the stadium. PS: The Panthers lost.

Rainy Days

We actually get quite a few big downpours here in Charlotte. They don't last too long usually, but are often accompanied by thunder and lightning. It's quite warm (and humid) during these rains since it's still summer. On August 19th, the rain started coming down really hard and the kids wanted to check it out. I figured it'd be good "swimming" practice to get their faces wet in the rain.

It took them a bit to warm up to the idea of getting wet, but soon they were enjoying themselves.

When I told Sydney to smile for me, this is the first picture I got.

Eventually I got this picture. She's working on it. I love how curly her hair gets in the humidity/rain.

Apparently rain water on the bar is tastier than from a cup... (I try not to think of all of the germs he's consuming.)

He kept sucking the rain water out of his cars, too.

Wes got thoroughly wet, but enjoyed himself!

I'm glad they had fun while I stayed dry! :)
