You'd Think I'd Know Better...

...after all, I am a mom of two, and one's a toddler. But even still, while I was cleaning out the pantry, I turned my back for a second...

...and Percy made himself right at home on his new sugar train tracks.

Run Fit 5k!

Wednesday night I ran the Run Fit 5k in Novi with our friends Jonelle and Steve. Pretty random to have a 5k on a Wednesday night starting at 7:05pm, but why not? We had a fun time!

Here we are with the kids before the race started.

Happy to be started! Steve pushed Carter in the stroller the whole time. Wow! He kept an amazing pace too!

Jonelle was the first of the 3 of us over the finish line.

Here I am. Oh man! Jonelle and Steve pushed me hard. I couldn't even sprint the end like I usually do.

Here are Steve and Carter crossing the finish line!

Thanks to Steve and Jonelle, I shaved about 40 seconds off my last 5k time! Jonelle made me feel awesome when she mentioned that's like taking 13 seconds off each mile. That's quite a jump!

The final results:

Time - 25:03
Pace - 8:04
Age Place - 9 of 35
Sex Place - 32 of 150
Overall Place - 96 of 275

Actually, I placed 8th not 9th for my age, but they use the gun time not the chip time, so I got a little gipped. Jonelle came in 6th for our age group and barely missed getting a sweet mug as a prize for placing in the top 5. Bummer! :)

PS: My knees did quite well! But then again, maybe I was in pain elsewhere and didn't notice the knee pain as much! :) However, I have been cross-training (biking, elliptical, Jillian Michael's Shred dvd, leg weights, stretching, etc...) so I think that helped too!

Summer Weather!

It's been really warm the last few days - especially with the humidity! We've been enjoying it though, and getting out to play when we can.

We busted out the shorts and short-sleeved shirts for everyone. I'm so glad Sydney's 6 months now because the clothes are so much cuter!

The blue-eyed Hanks girls.

We went to a petting zoo on Saturday for an MBA Kids activity. I'm glad we didn't have to pay because it wouldn't have been worth the money considering how short of time we stayed and how scared Wes was of the animals!

Wes did enjoy feeding the ducks. We decided that he was basically fine with anything smaller than him as long as the animals kept their distance.

He wasn't super excited about sitting on the tractor either even though he loves tractors almost as much as trains. This one was a bit bigger than the toy one he has at home though!

Sydney taking a turn on the tractor.

Now that it's humid, Sydney's curls are showing up! I took some pictures of Wes with his curls when he was about this age.

Cutie girl! I'll be shocked if we ever have a kid without curly hair.

Also: Sydney's getting closer and closer to crawling. She pulls herself forward to get what she wants, but she's not super fast. She tends to get frustrated when she's on her hands and knees but can't quite move forward. She's going to love crawling and following Wes around!
