Museum of Flight

On Saturday, September 24th, the Smithsonian was hosting a free museum day to certain museums across the nation. Normally I feel like the museums are kind of random (like The Center for Wooden Boats), but this year they had the Museum of Flight on list, so off we flew! :)

It was a beautiful day! Brian and the kids stopped to take a picture outside, but a plane took off and they all had to watch!

Wes with a statue outside. Do you love his outfit? He told me he was Luigi from Mario Brothers. And then the socks with Crocs on top of that. At least I don't have to get him dressed every morning!

There was a kids craft area so we went there first. The kids are coloring their papers to make comets.

Here's Sydney swinging around her finished product.

Here are the kids posing for a picture with their finished comets.

Wes thought this space shuttle was way cool. I was happy to pose for a picture with him! Look who loves his momma. :)

Here are Brian and Wes posing for a picture with a bunch of airplanes.

Wes looks less than enthusiastic about taking this picture, but he thought it was cool after I showed it to him.

They had a kids' section where the kids could "fly" - and learn more about - planes, helicopters, and hot air balloons.

We then walked outside to check out Air Force One.

Here I am disembarking the airplane as though I'm the first lady. I think the kid behind me is really impressed. :)

We thought it'd be cool to see the inside of this giant airplane. Sadly, it wasn't open for viewing that day.

The timing worked out for the kids to pick a prize at the Museum of Flight and Sydney picked this chocolate airplane. Noticing a pattern? Her prizes are nearly always treat related. That girl sure has a sweet tooth!

Wes wanted something that could fly. We do have a limit on how much they can spend on prizes though, so this shooter was what he ended up with. He still had a great time with it!

Thanks to the Smithsonian for a free and fun day!
