Moments

As a Mom I really relish in the moments of peace and quiet I am gifted by my toddler while he is awake.

Today, I had such a moment.

I was sitting on the other side of my bed, working on my laptop, and Wes was out of my line of sight. I heard him playing for a bit and then I realized it was quiet. I was still in the middle of my work so I just continued to do my thing knowing full well that there was a good chance something was amiss. I knew, of course, that nothing was wrong with him, but when toddlers are playing so quietly, they are usually up to something.

I finally relinquished my quiet happiness and decided to check and see what fun he had found...

I have yet to decide if I'm going to attempt to stuff all the tissue back into the box ...

Tag About Me

1. What was I doing 10 years ago?

I was finishing up my sophomore year at Gov. John R. Rogers High School, driving, dating someone (I can't remember who specifically, maybe Brandon McKee?), trying out for Choir and Jazz Choir (making both), running for office (not winning), trying out for cheerleading (not making it), dancing at Elite, hanging out with my cousin Megan before she moved, skipping seminary, hanging out with my parents...

2. What was on my to-do list for today?

-Take a shower (yep, it has to be scheduled these days)
-Post this blog
-Have lunch with my friend Melanie
-Finish up the laundry
-Have the RS Presidency over to meet me
-Do some expense reports for my boss
-Make dinner
-Take care of Wes
-Hang out with Brian
-Watch The Office season finale

3. What would I do if I suddenly became a billionaire?

Hire a maid, get my hair done, not go into debt for school, go to Italy and one other more relaxing place with just Brian, and then save and invest it of course (I am married to Brian, after all).

4. Three Bad Habits

-Complaining about my job even though I really don't hate it or anything.
-Pointing out things I find interesting about people that they might not think are so interesting but I genuinely do.
-Mumbling. (Don't you think so Mom?) :)

5. Places I have lived:

Puyallup, Provo, Laie, London, Orem, El Paso, Schaumburg, Dallas...

6. Places I have worked:

My dad's office, for my mom, ah-ha.com, Wilhelmina-Urban Talent Agency, Nordstrom, temp job in New Mexico, temp job #1 in Schaumburg, temp job #2 in Schaumburg, and from home for BSL at the present.

7. Three things (most) people don't know about me:

-I'm highly emotional and I hate it so I try to hide it.
-I'm hypothyroid and have to take synthetic thyroid everyday. (Apparently, it's very common.)
-I would probably be a vegetarian if it weren't so inconvenient for other people. Not because of the animals, but because I'm not a big meat person.

As always, tagged if you wanna be.

Unfair Idol

My prediction on who's getting the boot tonight on American Idol?

Why? Well, it's definitely not because she's not talented. Since Andrew Lloyd Webber week, this girl has done amazingly well. I've always thought she was a great vocalist, but only in the last couple of weeks has she begun to exude confidence and show what she's really capable of.

However, for some reason the judges decided it wasn't Syesha's year to be in the top 2...they wanted the Davids. It was highly obvious since Paula rarely makes such bold judgement calls as to who's "safe" and who's "in trouble" and she told Syesha point blank that she didn't think it was good enough to take her through. In reality, Syesha sang incredibly well.

I voted for Syesha last night and got through every time. Then I tried voting once for each of the Davids and got a busy signal. Not a good sign for Miss Syesha. Bummer. I really could have done without David Archuleta and David Cook needs a good dosage of humility. That being said, I've been a Cook fan since the beginning and I think he can take it all.

PS: My friend, Brooke, told me I looked like a white Syesha. I think it might have to do with the hair. What do you think? :)
