Blackberry Picking

On Sunday, August 21st, we had a rare 80-degree day. Since our house doesn't have AC, we decided to go for a walk. It was cooler outside in the shade than in our house (but hotter in the sun, for sure).

We walked about 3 blocks up the street from our house to pick some wild blackberries.

Wes was slightly more interested in driving his car in the dirt, than picking berries. :)

Blackberries on bottom, those orangey-red berry things (that I don't think are edible...at least I remember that from my childhood) on the top, and a beautiful blue sky!

After we finished picking some blackberries, we went home and the kids tried Kool-aid for the first time (at least, to my knowledge) and I tried the blackberries. I didn't get sick or die, so I think it's safe to go out and pick wild blackberries again! :)

The Fainting Goat

On Saturday, the 20th, Brian and I went on a date. First, we went suit shopping (after all, Brian does wear a suit six days a week!) and then we went and got gelato at The Fainting Goat in the Wallingford area of Seattle. Odd name for a gelato shop, yes?

A rare couples' picture while waiting in line for our gelato.

Enjoying the beautiful summer Seattle evening and our gelato. My roasted almond gelato was super good. I brought our book of questions for a "flashback" date. My favorite question of the night: If you could change one thing about baseball to make it more interesting to watch, what would it be? My answer: the players would have to skip around the bases. Wouldn't that be hilarious?! It makes me laugh picturing it.
