Valentine's Day 2011

Our Valentine's Day was fairly low-key this year. With the move and all, I didn't feel up to making sugar cookies like usual. Plus, it was Brian's first day of work at his new position, so I didn't really know what to expect with that.

I honestly don't remember what the kids and I did that day. I know I made Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas for dinner though! I also got the kids a little something, per tradition, and Brian got me a nice necklace and earrings. I counted our new LED HD TV and Blu-Ray player as his Valentine's present. :)

The lighting's kind of whack on these pictures, but I think the kids look cute. Sydney's shirt was from my mom (and dad) for Valentine's day. My mom is so great to always get us and a the kids a little something to make the day more special. Wes got a Cars t-shirt that he loved, but it was temporarily misplaced for the day.

It's a great age for present-opening. It's all so exciting!

Me: "Show me what you got! Smile!"

Me: "Hold it out so I can see it!" They each got chocolates, a Valentine's book, and a festive rubber ducky.

I let them each have some chocolate and then left the rest their boxes on the counter. The next day Wes ran to find me and said, "Sydney's eating my chocolate!" I went into the kitchen and found that Sydney had moved a chair over to the counter, climbed up to get the chocolate, and was chowing down both boxes of chocolate as fast as she could. No worries, she did share some with Wes, and I was able to get away one piece that was untouched to give to Wes the next day.

Moving Day: Seattle

The kids and I had been staying with my parents in Puyallup for almost four weeks before Brian and his dad rolled into town with a truck full of our things. Since Brian hadn't seen us in so long, he insisted the kids be there when he got into town on February 9th. We reunited, had pizza and brownies, and then the kids watched a movie while wonderful men from our church helped Brian (with the flu, no less) and his dad carry in all of the boxes and furniture to our 3-story townhouse.

Elefun FHE

On February 7th, Grandpa Swensen brought home the game Elefun for us to play for Family Home Evening. The kids loved it!

Earlier that day we saw a rainbow. That's the beauty of the rain, my friends!





Wes had a hard time not whacking the elephant's trunk over as he was catching butterflies. He was a bit too excited about the whole thing, I think!

There were only four catching nets so Grandma Swensen "bowed out" so the rest of us could play.

Superbowl Sunday

On Superbowl Sunday, we went to church, had lunch, watched O'Reilly's interview with President Obama, watched the Superbowl, and then watched the not-so-impressive Glee episode. I guess I can't say that I really watched the Superbowl, but it was on and I was around.

Wes got himself all cozy with a pillow before the big game began.

Toward the end of the game, Wes and Sydney cuddled with Grandma Swensen while she explained the basics of football to them. My mom grew up watching football with her dad, so she and her sisters are big football fans.
