Ruth's 1st Birthday

We spent most of Ruth's birthday morning relaxing. She was a champ and took a great nap in the afternoon. When she woke up we had cake and opened presents. I'm not big on the baby eating an entire cake and making a mess, but we got a free 6-inch cake with our order since it was a first birthday. So, Ruth got it and loved it. Grandma Hanks, Aunt Megan, and cousin Isaak were also able to be here, so that was extra fun!

Ruth loves music, so it seemed appropriate to have a music cake.

Fascinated by the flame, just like a typical one-year-old!

Thoroughly confused by our singing...again, pretty typical.

Me blowing out the candle before she grabs it!

She immediately grabbed a music note and dug right into the cake.

And she just kept going...

And going...

And going!

She wasn't very interested in her presents.

Just Isaak's plane.

Brian tried to entice her with flying tissue paper, but to no avail.

Wes and Sydney had a great time gather the wrapping and tissue paper and throwing it in the air!

Grandma Hanks and the birthday girl!

Ruth ready to go for a ride on her new birthday present from Grandma and Grandpa Hanks!

Our little family ready to walk/ride around the block!

Valentine's Day 2014

Valentine's Day was a lot more low-key this year compared to last year since I didn't go into labor at the end of the day!

The kids both had school and parties and then in the evening Brian and I hosted a date night with some friends with the theme of Cheese and Chocolate. We had fun, but unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of that.

Here are the Valentines the kids gave to their classmates.

For breakfast, I made the kids heart eggs and toast and applesauce with sprinkles.

I tried to get Ruth to open her Valentine's present, but she didn't really get the concept. She just wanted my phone.

Ruth had fun looking at her pictures in the book Brian and I made for her.

The kids ready for the day in their Valentine's gear.
