Nick "Cinco Ocho" Smith

RARE never-before-seen footage of my cousin Nick winning a rare point against me in ping-pong (Nick in blue) a few years back. I wondered if the video Adam recorded would ever resurface...

SPRING Break - Week 2

The past week could actually be considered a Spring Break because we saw a lot of sun and rain and no snow! We definitely saw signs a spring and thoroughly enjoyed them!

We mostly hung around the house, caught up on sleep and shows (I've forgiven The Bachelor...it's his life, but I don't think he's as great of a guy as he was portrayed), played some Nintendo DS, slacked off on my running, and got a few things done.

Sydney decided to stop taking her pacifier, which Wes also did when he was about her age. She has also decided she wants to be a stomach sleeper now that she's no longer being swaddled.

Wes finally cut another tooth. He still has 8 more teeth to go (his "fangs" and his second molars). Teething's hard on the poor kid...and hard on his parents too!

Finally! After 11 tries, I finally got a picture of Wes with his eyes open and no toungue sticking out. For some reason he automatically shuts his eyes when he smiles. Then he kept opening them and sticking his toungue out. I just thought it was cute how he lined up the "Plane, Train, and Automobile". All boy, huh?

I thought Sydney kind of looked like an 80's baby with her headband and leg warmers.

We have this bright red Cardinal that visits the trees behind our house. He's the red spot in the middle. We'd never seen one before moving here. They're pretty cool looking! He wouldn't let me get very close though. We'd better invest in a telephoto lens! :)

Friday was an amazing day. (Temps in the 60s.) I even busted out the flip-flops and we played outside! Sooooo great. If you're not living in the midwest you might not understand how it feels to be cooped up for so long. I never knew I liked being outside so much!

Wes testing out the merry-go-round at the park.

We spiked Sydney's hair just for fun. Hangin' with her daddy!

Wes going down the slide. This kid loves going outside and asks me to go outside about 20 times throughout the day.

Spikey hair Sydney chomping away.

Me and my cute kiddos. Wes might be listening for a plane or something. He puts his hand up to his ear like that when he's listening for something.

Wes pushing Sydney and Mom and the merry-go-round.

On Friday night Brian and I went on a date! (Yay for babysitting swapping!) We got a Newcomer's Welcome Packet for Ann Arbor. Along with a bunch of other coupons was a $30 gift card to this expensive ($20 to $30 a plate) Italian restaurant on Main Street, Bella Ciao. We went and split an appitizer and an entree and our total bill came to $30.74. Go us! So we spent $6.74 on our entire date ($6 for tip). After dinner we walked through the mall without pushing strollers and holding hands! The simple joys in life... :)

On Saturday, Brian entered himself and some MBA buddies into an intermural dodgeball competition. Sydney, Wes, and I went to cheer him on. Wes loved playing with the dodgeballs (which he was calling doggy-balls for some reason). Of course he was a hit with the ladies, too!

Who's going to make the first move?

Brian (in the red shorts) in action!

Brian was the last man standing and won one of the games for his team! He's so tough! Too bad they ended up losing in the tournament, but they had fun!

Sydney was my perfect little girl hanging out while we cheered on Brian's team.
