Doin' the Puyallup

On Saturday, September 17th, we went to the Puyallup Fair. The last time Brian and I were there was exactly six years ago on the morning before our wedding open house in Puyallup. This time we had our two kids with us and had some friends, the Picketts, come along.

Welcome to the Fair with big pumpkins! :)

There are more cows at the Fair than you'd ever care to see in your whole life.

Even though it started raining, the kids still got to go on some rides. Sydney wasn't too sure about this boat ride.

Wes, however, was thrilled to be on the boat ride!

Then the kids went on the car ride. Wes is in the green car and Troy is in the yellow and purple one. Sydney decided not to do any more rides after the boat one.

I think the Fair was a bit loud for Sydney.

Brian and I were surprised and impressed when Wes was begging us to go on the roller coaster. We found one the kids were tall enough to go on. Here are Wes and Troy getting prepped to go on the roller coaster.

The first time they came around the corner they both had these great excited looks on their faces.

As they kept going around, Wes looked less and less sure about the whole thing. After it was over, he said the roller coaster was too fast. :)

Sydney used one of her ride tickets to win this pink duck and she was very happy with it!

Then Wes and Troy rode the helicopter ride.

They were excited to be flying!

About once a week the kids earn a prize for doing certain things at home. They decided to pick these suckers for their prize this time.

Some of the Star Wars characters were hanging out at the Fair. Sydney was too scared to get into the picture with them, but Brian and Wes were more than happy to do it!

We got a lot of comments about them eating these giant suckers.

The kids really enjoyed looking at the toy demonstrations at the Fair.

Another giant pumpkin!

Before we left we decided to try a fried Snickers bar. Not that amazing, in my opinion, but at least I can say I've tried it! We also got scones to go. :)

The Picketts tried an Elephant Ear which are a Hanks family favorite at the Fair.

A family picture before we left. I think everyone had a great time despite the wet weather.

Saltwater State Park

On Thursday night, September 22nd, Brian went with his brother, Craig, to see "Weird Al" Yankovic perform at the Puyallup Fair. Since it was a late night, we stayed in Puyallup and Brian took Friday off. Then we went to the Fair on Saturday (another post).

We spent Friday morning at Saltwater State Park in Des Moines and then mostly hung out the rest of the day.

Sydney's attempt at a "Cheeeeeese!" for the picture while playing at the park.

Even though Brian technically had the day off, he had to take a work call to put out some fires. He's a hard working man! Here he is on a work call while picking and handing out blackberries.

Handsome boy!

Cute.

Me and Wes.

Sydney found a stick!

The kids love being outside and playing together.

I found my old Quints dolls in my parents' storage room and got them out to see if Sydney would enjoy them. She had fun explaining to Brian what everything was.

My baby girl is getting so big!
