Bunk Beds

On February 22nd, we put up bunk beds in the kids' room. This was Sydney's first official night in a big girl bed. She sleeps in the bottom bunk and Wes is on the top. They were super excited about their new bunk beds. It's been a bit of a tricky transition with Sydney climbing up into Wes' bed (Wes told me we needed to put a stop sign on the ladder so Sydney would know she couldn't climb up there), but we're making progress.

Now that they share a room (since they were separated by a closet door in Charlotte), Wes' quiet time has been on the couch, in our room, or at a little table. He's still good about being quiet, but I've given up on him having naps. Sydney has been having napping issues since she's no longer in a pitch-black closet for quiet time. It's a learning curve, but we're all getting the hang of it!

Silly Sydney

Sydney is her own person through-and-through...and-through. She's funny, silly, and at the ripe ol' age of two already "gets" how things and people work and how to game the system. We have to stay or our toes with her!

This picture was from December 1st in Charlotte. I just hadn't included it anywhere yet.

Sydney is fiercely independent. When I was organizing the kids' closet (on February 15th), Sydney found her swimsuit and insisted she put it on herself. After she got her head stuck in the leg whole, she asked me for help.

On February 20th, Sydney and I stayed home from church because she had been sick. I gave her some chocolate covered acai berries for a snack while she watched a show and I went downstairs to work on organizing our office. A few minutes later, I came back to this messy face. Really, those berries shouldn't be this messy!

Boston Marathon Training - Weeks 6, 7, and 8

This picture is my new excuse. Moving and unpacking has been my life for the last couple of weeks. I figured it counted as "cross-training" since I went up and down the stairs a hundred or more times, often carrying boxes, bookcases, dressers...whatever. So I figured I was working my leg muscles.

I did get to the gym twice (since our YMCA pass isn't expired yet), but I get so bored running on the treadmill, I ended up just walking and watching the 2nd half of a show on The Food Network. (But again, I was moving my legs!)

I also planned on going running on President's Day because Brian had the day off, but he was up puking the whole night before and seriously needed some sleep. I got a lot of work done on the blankets I'm making for the kids' beds though! (See? I'm full of excuses.)

On Saturday though, I got out and really ran. We all got out the door by 7:40am to go to Brian's basketball game at the church. Then, I had him drop me off at Greenlake so I could meet up and with two ladies from my new ward. I had him drop me off so I'd have no way to get home (just over 3 miles) except by using my own two feet. I ran 2 laps around Greenlake (SO nice to have people to run with!) and then I ran (and walked) home. They ran a few more laps, but my legs were pretty tired given the serious lack of running I've been doing. Not to mention the pace was in the 8:25 range for those two laps, which is a lot faster than what I've been doing. (It was SO cold, by the way...I had flashbacks of running in Ann Arbor.)
