Fun Week in Ann Arbor!

On Thursday, the ward playgroup went to the Saline Community Fair (Saline is one of the towns next to Ann Arbor) so I decided we'd go check it out. We were in and out within a half hour, mostly because Wes was too little for the rides, but partly because it was a small fair. I'm sure it's actually average size, but having grown up going to the Puyallup Fair my whole life, every other fair pales by comparison. If you've never been to the Puyallup Fair, you're missing out!

Wes looking super excited about the cows in the background. This was the look he had on his face pretty much the entire time we were walking around the fairgrounds. I think it was the first time he ever saw animals (besides dogs and cats) close up and was able to comprehend it.

Wes' first time on a merry-go-round. I didn't think I could hold him on a horse and keep me and my pregnant belly from falling off. Plus, he was a little unsure about it all at first and had to check it out as you can tell from the look on his face.

Today Brian had the MBA Games. The MBA program is split into six sections and each section has certain activities they do together - including all of their classes. Today, each section competed against the others in various games such as flag football, kickball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, softball, bocce ball, volleyball, etc... Wes and I went to support Brian this morning and so he could "show off" his little family.

Dad was a sucker and bought this eyeball for Wes yesterday. It lights up when you hit it and Wes loves it.

Tonight we went over to our friends' house to celebrate a fellow-MBA's birthday. He had a Rock Band birthday party. There were a lot of friends and kids there!

Brian's favorite part is the drums - he's concentrating pretty hard! Shawn - the birthday man - is singing and Steve (another MBA) is playing guitar.

Yesterday we got a much needed break from Wes and went to the University of Michigan's opening football game. They played the Utah Utes so it was a more interesting one to go to for us. We originally planned on taking Wes, but turns out even a day old baby needs his own ticket to get in. In the end, we were really glad to have a little date day.

The game started at 3pm and it was crazy crowded (of course) and it was HOT! I'd much rather go to a game in the heat of the sun than the cold of the snow though!

We were still ahead at this point. You can see a line of red-shirted Utah fans along the top of The Big House (what they call their stadium).

A sea of Maize. The school colors are Maize and Blue. There were 108,421 people in attendence yesterday - a record!

It was quite a different experience than a BYU game with the swearing and chanting. They really like this cheer called "You Suck." Nice.

And the final score...it was a good game though! Luckily, we didn't run into any hostile Michigan fans. There are a lot of people who get really into the games...start tailgating at 6am and what-not, so you can imagine losses aren't taken very lightly. Oh well! We had fun!
