Our First Run-in...

On Monday, I took Wes to the play place at the Galleria Mall - really close to our house. It's not my favorite one because the toys are still just a little bit big for me to see Wes everywhere he goes and it's usually crazy. Not to mention, it is SO hot in there - even though it's indoors!

Anyway, one of my biggest fears about being a mom is how my children will deal and cope with other children. (Because, let's be honest, sometimes we actually have to cope with other people.) You never know how people are raising their children, so you never know what your kids are going to have to deal with.

On Monday we had our first encounter with a not-so-nice little kid. Wes was playing with a toy and a little kid - about Wes' age - came over and pushed him down. (By the way, this kid had already pushed down another kid about the same age and left him crying.) I just watched, waiting to see how Wes would react.

Wes, easy-going kid that he is, just stood up and started to walk away. However, the other kid followed him (here I got a bit nervous), then I saw the other kid open his mouth as wide as he could and I knew what was coming. I ran over there and said, "please don't bite," and luckily the kid only got his mouth on Wes' back and didn't actually bite down.

Well, his mom came over when she saw it and grabbed her kid on the arm and literally slapped his arm - 3 times! And it was loud. Then she said, "say you're sorry and give him a hug." Of course he couldn't say anything, and even if he could he was crying by this time and so she forced his arms around Wes in a mock "hug." I didn't know what to say because Wes was fine, but now my arm hurt thinking about her slapping him like that!

So that was our first encounter with a not-so-nice kid and his mom... What scares me is that I know it won't be the last. :/

This is the play place I like better because all the toys are shorter so I don't have to follow Wes around because I can see him everywhere. It's a little bit further away though, otherwise we'd go there more often! (Stupid gas prices!)

Happenin' Father's Day!

I took this picture yesterday. Brian, Wes and I ventured out to find the Dallas Farmers' Market and when we came across a bunch of tents, we found parking and paid the meter.

Unfortunately, we were at the Dallas Arts Festival instead. Since we had already paid for parking we walked (yep, in downtown Dallas) over a mile - pushing a stroller and in flip-flops, of course - to get to the Farmers' Market and we weren't exactly sure where we were going. The heat wasn't too bad on the way there, but we were dying on the way back. We definitely got our sun and exercise yesterday!

Once we got to the Farmers' Market, it was totally worth it because they had so many great fruit and vegetable vendors. We got to sample as we walked along...mmmm... We took 20 bucks cash to spend and ended bringing home strawberries, peaches, cherries, blueberries, and corn on the cob with cash leftover.

When we got home Brian made himself this fun little fruit plate to eat. I love that he was so excited to eat his fruit.

And now on to Father's Day...

I just wanted to give a public shout-out to Brian and tell him that I think he's an awesome dad. I definitely don't tell him often enough. Wes loves playing with Brian and often cries when he leaves to go to work. He also slightly favors Brian over me (only slightly), but I do think it is because Brian's way more fun than I am. Thankfully, Brian's not only the "fun dad," but he helps me out with taking care of Wes too. I am so grateful for that! I love you, Brian, and I'm so glad you're the father in our family.

I also want to say how grateful I am for my father and father-in-law. Without them, Brian and I would not be able to see and do all that we get to. We really appreciate all their love and support for us.
